"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful
committed citizens can change the world, indeed it’s the only thing that
ever has"
~Margaret Mead~
Change is not something to resist but should be embraced. Would you
like to master change? Would you like to get so good at change that you
thrive on it instead of the typical human response to resist it? As with
all things we try to accomplish there are certain principles, that once
understood, make success almost certain.
The fact is, we live in a time of rapid change. Most of us do not see
just how fast the times are changing. One reason to master change is that
it has been stated that the average job description will only last about 3
to 18 months. In other words you are going to be forced to change or
you're going to be left behind. Here at www.danieljanssen.com I hope to
provide you with some very useful, powerful ideas and strategies that can
equip you to thrive on change and get in front of the waves of
opportunity.
Change is not always easy but the steps to change are simple. What's
encouraging is that there is a lot of support, experience, understanding,
education and inspiration to help make whatever changes you need to make.
Learn to master these following principles and you will make change your
ally.
Principles of Change:
1) Awareness. Knowledge is the key to change. You need to first start
with clarity on what exactly it is that you want to change. Is it your
behavior, your income, your weight, an addiction, a character issue? What
ever it is, get clear on it and seek some counsel to affirm that what you
have clearly identified is accurate and going to give you the results you
desire. If you want to change habits or addictions then make sure you get
to the root cause and not work on the symptoms. This is where good counsel
can be of tremendous value. And don't seek counsel from those that are not
successful at what your dealing with. Don't go to a broke person to change
your income. Don't go to a person with weight problems to change your
weight. Choose your counsel carefully! If you don't fully respect and
admire them then don't listen to them.
2) Attitude: If your attitude is wrong then the chance of you
succeeding is very slim. You don't have to hit rock bottom before you
change but you certainly have to have a strong desire.
3) Goal Setting: Proper goal setting is not just a dream in your head
it is a clear definition of what you want, a commitment to achieving it
and a step by step plan with a clear end in mind. You posses the most
awesome super computer in your head, the subconscious, and it is just
waiting for you to give it detailed instructions.
4) Discipline: Self-discipline is needed to follow the plan and if you
don't have the discipline then you will need to get some accountability.
Seek one who is mature and not going to undermine you when you make a
mistake but someone who will challenge, encourage and be truthful on your
journey.
5) Humility: You need to be teachable, you need to be able to accept
constructive criticism and seek the opinion of the wise counsel. This
quote of ancient wisdom says it best. "Listen to advice and accept
instruction and in the end you will be wise" Proverbs 19:20.
6) Resourcefulness: We need to be resourceful. Everything you ever
wanted to know has been written and someone has been through the same
experience. Seek out the people and information that can help and you
can't miss.
7) Commitment: You need to make verbal and written commitment to
yourself that you will do whatever it takes to make the change you want to
make. I WILL, are 2 of the most powerful words in the human language so
resolve to make the change.
8) Personal development: I believe that personal development is the
ultimate key to change. Personal growth is the fundamental skill for
raising our level of awareness. There is no substitute for reading the
books, listening to the tapes, applying the knowledge and seeking the
advice. Raise your standard and have high expectations and grow. You will
find that in the process you will learn everything you need to know and
develop the character that will shape you into the kind of man or woman
that you know you can be.
You can do it; believe in yourself and reap the benefits of mastering
the principles of change!
