My Perspective
Let me take you on a small journey into the Cosmos. Carl Sagan has developed an Emmy award winning series called Cosmos. Thirteen episodes that give you the most amazing look into our universe. To give you an idea of the vast distances in our universe we have to measure in light years. Light travels at 300,000 km per/sec so in one year, light travels 10 trillion km, known as a light year. The distance from our earth to the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way, is 30,000 light years. The next spiral galaxy like ours called M31, is 20 million light years away! Those are distances that are hard to get our mind around. There are at least 100 billion galaxies in the known universe. The galaxy we live in called The Milky Way consists of 100 billion stars. Our sun is just one of those stars and around that star are planets. On one of those planets there is life, and one of those lives is you.

In this vast universe we can often feel a little insignificant. It was Carl Sagan that said, we make our world significant by the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers. Only human beings can plan, create, change and choose to affect our future. It is these endowments that separate us from all other living creatures and make the biggest difference in our lives when we consciously act upon them. Life has become very complex. There is a myriad of choices for everything including what to believe. Scientific discoveries and new understandings are challenging, and more often changing even the deepest rooted belief systems. This is a healthy process of growth but can leave us few reference points and contribute to a lack of purpose and meaning. It is to this that I hope to make a valuable contribution. I will continue to research, learn and express ideas that can fuel our personal development. My mission is clear and simple.
